Frances Snavely

A funeral service for Frances Snavely will be on Wednesday, August 31st, 2011, at 10AM, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Brother Andy Taylor will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Frances Snavely was born 9 November 1916 in Lamar, Colorado, to George Samuel Litz and Nellie Ann Porter Litz, and died 28 August 2011 at Brandon Woods. She was 94.
Frances was raised with her brothers Cecil Miller and Jim Litz, and her sisters Pat and Betty, all now deceased. Because of her father’s line of work, she fondly remembered as a girl living in numerous locations in eastern Colorado, and western and central Kansas. She attended elementary school in Larned and McPherson, Kansas, before moving to Lawrence in early September 1925. Here she attended the newly opened Woodlawn School and then Burnett School at Midland. She also attended Lawrence Junior High School. She married first George Faler. They later divorced. She then married Elgin W. Snavely. He died 24 October 1978. Frances had five children: George “Sonny” Faler, Audrey Hahn, Joan Standfield, who preceded her in death, Sharon Snavely, and Steve Snavely. She had a total of ten grandchildren, and many, many descendants through them.
Frances was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1968, and has often spoken with folks about the Bible and the good news about God’s Kingdom.
She had been a resident at Lakeview Manor and Brandon Woods for the past decade or so, and her family appreciates all the care and good deeds by many at those facilities.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1802 E. 19th St., Lawrence, Kan., 66044.
