A native of Kansas City, MO, Lois returned to the Midwest eight years ago after 30 years in Northern California. A graduate of the University of Kansas, Lois earned an MBA from St. Mary’s College in Moraga, CA, and had a long, successful career as an advertising executive in San Francisco. In recent years, she enjoyed ranch life in Oskaloosa, KS, where she and her husband Wayne moved to lead a simpler life closer to the land. Lois was proud of her Midwestern roots, and particularly of her descent from the founders of Milberger, KS, near Russell. Lois loved her family, her horses and dogs, and was deeply committed to animal rescue and volunteer work. She enjoyed gardening and needlework, and her skills were admired by all who knew her. She will be remembered by friends and family for her great warmth, humor, intelligence, generosity, and loving spirit. Lois was the beloved wife of 18 years to Wayne Tooker; cherished sister of Joanne Milberger Bell; and devoted auntie to Alexandra Victoria Bell and Eric, Jordon, Chasey, and Talon Tooker. She was preceded in Heaven by her parents Victoria and Louis Milberger.
Visitation for friends and family will be Saturday, August 27 from 2-4 p.m. at Rumsey-Yost-Funeral Home in Lawrence, KS.
