James E. ‘Ed’ Bailey

Graveside service for James E. “Ed” Bailey, 95, Kansas City, Kan., will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lawrence. A Celebration of Life service will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 27 at Victory Hills Senior Living, 1900 N. 70th St., Kansas City, Kan.
Mr. Bailey died Sunday, July 31, 2011.
He was born Feb. 18, 1916, in Lawrence, the son of Herbert and Anna Bailey.
Mr. Bailey drove for Continental/Trailways for more than 33 years, driving more than 2 million miles without an accident.
Survivors include two sisters, Lois Harrell, Lawrence, and Vera Dunn and husband Duane, Iowa; two daughters, Deana J. Shafer, and Ann M. Rash and husband Otis, all of Parkville, Mo.; two stepsons, James A. Carter and wife Linda, Bonner Springs, and Gerold Carter and wife Sharon, Branson West, Mo.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Marie Pringle Bailey; his wife of 33 years, Nellie J. Carter Bailey; his parents; and a brother, Loren.
