Memorial services for Flora E. McManness, 88, De Soto, will be held 3 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2011 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Inurnment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
She died April 28, 2011 at Hillside Village of De Soto.
Flora was born on November 25, 1922 in Hillsborough, N.C., the daughter of Charles E. and Lila M. (McDade) Hill.
She worked as a bookkeeper for Douglas County Bank in Lawrence, KS from 1970-1985. She was previously a partner with her husband of Ramsey’s Decorating Services from 1956-1970.
Flora was a member of the Mt. View Assembly of God Church in Sierra Vista, AZ.
She married Lee J. McManness on October 23, 1945 in Durham, N.C. He preceded her in death June 4, 1999.
Survivors include two sons, Gary and wife Sandy McManness of Lawrence, KS, and Brian and wife Patty McManness of Shawnee, KS; eight grandchildren, Keely, Tiffany, Tavin, Stacy, Ashlynn, Amy, Joel, and Sam; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Shirley Sedenquist of Kettle Falls, WA. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Charles McManness; and two sisters, Nancy Beck and Christine Umstead.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until service time on Monday at the mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to a charity of donor’s choice and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
