Eva Myrtle Lancaster 1918 - 2011 Eudora
Graveside services for Eva Myrtle Lancaster, 92, Eudora, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hesper Cemetery, southeast of Eudora, with the Rev. Steve Klinedinst officiating.
Mrs. Lancaster died Sunday, April 24, 2011, at Medicalodges of Eudora.
She was born July 5, 1918, in Eudora, the daughter of Ralph and Ethel Westerhouse Votaw. She was raised and attended schools in the Hesper community.
Mrs. Lancaster was a homemaker and a snack bar manager at Kroger’s. She also worked at Rusty’s IGA as the bakery manager and in the Eudora Junior/Senior High School cafeteria. She was a member of Hesper Friends Church and enjoyed crocheting, cooking and growing flowers.
She married Paul Frazier in 1936 in Eudora. They later divorced. She married Meville L. Lancaster in 1957 in Arkansas. He preceded her in death Oct. 17, 1993.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Vernon Votaw, and two brothers-in-law, Moreland Baldwin and Harold Morley.
Survivors include two daughters, Helen Jackson and husband Jim, Topeka, and Evelyn Cotton and husband Hank, Lawrence; two sisters, Dorothy Baldwin, Clinton, and Lela Morley, Eudora; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorials to the Hesper Friends Church or to the Eudora United Methodist Church, sent in care of the funeral home, 601 Ind., Lawrence, KS, 66044.
