Gary Eugene Rath 1936 - 2011 Perry
Funeral services for Gary E. Rath, 74, Perry, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, Lawrence. Burial will follow at Ozawkie Cemetery.
Mr. Rath died Friday, April 1, 2011, at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center in Topeka.
He was born June 21, 1936, in Ozawkie, the son of Glen William and Virginia May Lewis Rath. He graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1954.
Mr. Rath worked as a carman for various railroad companies.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Ireland Rath, of the home; two sons, Gary Jr. and wife Lisa, Topeka, and Randy, Topeka; three daughters, Valerie Dunn, Valley Falls, and Sheryl Rath and Tamera Barber, both of Topeka; two sisters, Phyllis Bowers, Silver Lake, and Joy Boyd, Topeka; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Steven, March 17, 2011, and a granddaughter, Stephinie Ortiz.
The family will meet friends for one hour before services.
The family suggests memorials to Jefferson County Humane Society, sent in care of the funeral home, 3821 W. Sixth St., Lawrence, KS 66049.
