Dortha J. Garrison Linwood
Graveside inurnment services for Dortha J. Garrison, 87, Linwood, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence.
Mrs. Garrison died on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at the Medicalodges of Eudora.
She grew up in Arkansas. She was a retired secretary at Kansas University in the Sponsored Program Accounting Department.
She was very interested in music, crafts and sports. During her high school years, she played the clarinet and the bassoon in the marching band and she also played the piano. She enjoyed attending craft shows and the Wednesday evening band concerts in South Park with her husband. She was an avid supporter of her grandchildren’s athletic events at Baldwin High School, and also KU sporting events. She loved working in her home and garden.
She married Jack Fine in Van Buren, Ark. They were later divorced. She later married Kenneth Garrison in Platte City, Mo. He preceded her in death on May 17, 2008.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and a son, Warren Fine.
Survivors include two daughters, Rita Fine, of Lawrence, and Rebecca Rich, of Hartford; two sons, John Garrison and Tom Garrison, both of Lawrence; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the Lawrence City Band or the Lawrence Food Pantry, sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
