Raymond Charles Schimmel

Funeral services for Raymond Charles Schimmel, 86, Lawrence, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lawrence.
He died Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at the Eudora Medicalodges.
He was born May 7, 1924, in Aulville, Mo., the son of William and Blanche Dabler Schimmel.
Mr. Schimmel had lived in Lawrence since 1929. He was a graduate of Vinland High School.
He worked as a toll collector for the Kansas Turnpike Authority, where he retired in 1995 after 13 years of service. Previously he had worked for many years as a retail milkman.
Mr. Schimmel was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.
He married Mary Legan on Nov. 8, 1967, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Rose Mary Schimmel, Lawrence, and Rhonda Miller and husband Russell, Topeka; two sons, Randy, Lawrence, and Ralph, Lecompton; a brother, William E., Oak Ridge, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Miranda and Katie Schimmel; and one great-grandchild, Nicholas.
The family will greet friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
The family suggests memorials to Redeemer Lutheran Church or Penn House, both of Lawrence, or Lecompton United Methodist Church, sent in care of the mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
