Gerald L. Kooser

Graveside inurnment services for Gerald L. “Jay” Kooser, 86, Perry, will be at 5 p.m. Monday at Underwood Cemetery, Williamstown.
Mr. Kooser died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010, at his home.
He was born July 4, 1924, in Vermillion, the son of Burt L. and Blanche Irene Craig Kooser.
Mr. Kooser was a 1942 graduate of Valley Falls High School and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1945 to 1946.
He worked as an instrument specialist for Farmland Industries Co-Op in Lawrence for more than 30 years, retiring in 1986.
He was a member of Perry Christian Church and served as a school board member for USD 343 in Perry.
He married Florence I. Hull on May 20, 1945, at Fort Leavenworth. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include three sons, Mike and wife Dale, Ozawkie, Bob and wife Karen, Berryton, and Ronnie and wife Cathy, Cleveland, Mo.; a daughter, Kim Wiles and husband Ted, Tonganoxie; a brother, Burton, Basehor; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation gathering service will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Perry Christian Church.
