Gary Wayne Spreer

Funeral services for Gary Wayne Spreer, 60, of Perry, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Perry American Legion building. Burial with Legion Honors will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Perry.
Mr. Spreer died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010, at his home in rural Perry.
He was born Dec. 20, 1949, in Belleville, the son of Alfred H.P. and Alice Marie Rahe Spreer. He lived in Perry most of his life, and was a 1967 graduate of Perry Rural High School.
He worked for Hamm’s Construction Co. in Perry before entering the military. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam, serving from 1969 to 1971. He was a member of the American Legion Perry Post 142.
He worked for 30 years as the human resource manager at the Kmart Distribution Center in Lawrence. He most recently served as a substitute rural mail carrier in Lawrence for eight years until his illness disabled him.
He was a member of the Lawrence area Chamber of Commerce.
He married Cinda “Cindy” S. Jones on July 13, 1973 in Miami, Okla. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Jason Spreer and wife Sarah, Perry, and Kevin Spreer and Meaghan Kinley, Lawrence; three brothers, Stanley and Jim, both of Perry, and Kenney, Grantville; two sisters, Beverly Wright, Perry, and Doris Rusche, Seneca; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis.
The family will meet friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Lawrence Chapel Oaks Funeral Home.
