Shirley Ann Erwin Brandes 1933 - 2010 Lawrence
Funeral services for Shirley Ann Erwin Brandes, 77, Lawrence, will be at noon Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will follow in the Eudora Cemetery.
Mrs. Brandes died Friday, Sept. 10, 2010, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born Aug. 29, 1933, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Harry and Edith Secor Scott.
Mrs. Brandes was a homemaker. She had also worked in the circulation department at the Lawrence Journal-World, King Radio and the Bonner Springs caves.
She attended Lone Star Church of the Brethren, was a member of Fraternal Order of the Eagles Auxiliary, Daughters of the American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars Alford-Clarke Post 852 Auxiliary.
She married Leander Erwin. They later divorced.
She then married Mack “Rusty” Brandes. He preceded her in death Feb. 14, 1988.
Survivors include two daughters, Frances Maberry and Cindy Flippo, both of Lawrence; five sons, Michael L. Erwin and wife Sandra, Bonner Springs, Ben Erwin, Perry, Joseph D. Erwin and wife Janet, Eudora, Lennie Erwin, Lone Star, and Lonnie Erwin and wife Sharon, Haysville; a sister, Sharon Duryea, Camdenton, Mo.; 20 grandchildren, Erica Knox, Anissa, Kalenna, Jacob, Adriene, Cody, Corey, Caleb and David Erwin, Daniel, Jeremy and Darrin Farnsworth, Shabecca Sturgeon, Misty Finney, Bill Flippo Jr., Krystal Wiggins, Kristin Doyle, Ashli and Brandy Shain and Randi Vestering; and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lindsey Shain.
The family will greet friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.
