Harold "Zeke" L. Johanning 1920 - 2010 Lawrence
Funeral services for Harold L. “Zeke” Johanning, 90, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Johanning died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010, at Brandon Woods at Alvamar.
He was born Jan. 27, 1920, in the Worden community in southwest Douglas County, the son of Otto L. and Ottilie Schaake Johanning.
Mr. Johanning was a retired rural letter carrier.
He was a member of the Rural Letter Carriers’ Association and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He was also a former member of the Douglas County Farm Bureau and a member of the Future Farmers of America Alumni Association.
He married Mary Alice Houghton on March 5, 1960, in Topeka. She preceded him in death on Aug. 14, 1999.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Penny; and a brother, Elmer.
Survivors include a brother, Glenn A., Lawrence, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. before services Friday at the mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care or the Future Farmers of America Alumni Association, sent in care of the mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
