Kenneth Paul Ellis Jr.

Inurnment with graveside military services for Kenneth Paul Ellis Jr., 76, of Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Ellis died Monday, Sept. 6, 2010, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 19, 1934, in Tulsa, Okla., the son of Kenneth and Edna Ellis. He graduated from Central High School in Tulsa in 1952.
He attended the Southern Baptist Church in Oklahoma and became a lay minister at 15. He was in the Army for two years, and then attended the University of Tulsa followed by Kansas State University, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a major in accounting.
Mr. Ellis owned a roller rink in downtown Manhattan and he managed several other businesses in that area. He worked for Kansas State University with the physical plant in its storeroom. He moved to Lawrence in 1978 and worked for the Housing Department at Kansas University as an expediting warehouseman for Oliver Hall. He retired in 1996.
Survivors include a brother, Loren, of Hollywood, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dale.
The family will meet friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Lawrence Chapel Oaks Cremation and Funeral Services, 3821 W. Sixth St., Lawrence, KS 66049.
