Rose M. Gabel

Kansas City, Kan. — Mass of Christian Burial for Rose M. Gabel, 78, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Kansas City, Kan. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Gabel died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community.
She was born Feb. 14, 1932, in Kansas City, Kan., and was a lifelong area resident.
She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Paul F. Gabel, in 2001; a brother, Frank Smarekar; and a son, Paul F. “Chip” Gabel Jr., in 1994.
Survivors include two sons, Chris Gabel and wife Martha, Olathe, and Andy Gabel, Shawnee; a daughter, Susan Potter and husband Jerry, Lawrence; three brothers, Louie Bratty, Anthony P. Smarekar and John D. Smarekar, all of Kansas City, Kan.; a sister, Madeline Jones, York, Pa.; a daughter-in-law, Pam Gabel, Lee’s Summit, Mo.; and eight grandchildren.
