Joseph E. Lown Jr.

Graveside services for Joseph E. Lown Jr., 83, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Lown died Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, at Baldwin Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born April 10, 1927, in Lawrence, the son of Joseph E. Sr. and Goldie Sewell Lown. He attended Lawrence schools.
Mr. Lown was employed by Lawrence Pipe & Steel for more than 30 years. After his retirement, he worked at River City Car Wash. He was a member of Church of God (Holiness), and enjoyed playing bingo and making cookies at the nursing home.
He married Barbara Jean Bell on June 25, 1982, in Ford County. She died April 27, 2004. He was also preceded in death by his dog, Trixie.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Sheila Lillard and husband Tom, Taylorsville, Ky.; a brother, Francis Leroy Lown, Thailand; two sisters, Linda Lown Lassen and husband Pete, Lawrence, and Izetta Countess, Oklahoma City; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
