James M. Evans, 67, of Lawrence passed away October 28, 2010 at Olathe Medical Center.
Services for Mr. Evans will be Tuesday, November 2 at 10:30 AM at the Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel. A private family burial will take place following the service. The family will accept friends at the funeral home from 6-8 PM on Monday evening.
James grew up in Lawrence, Kansas. He was a graduate of the Lawrence High School. During his years in high school he played football and baseball.
James worked for the Stokley Van Camp Company for more than 20 years. He immensely enjoyed repairing and restoring antique furniture. He also collected carnival glass as a hobby. James was a huge KU fan of all sports but he particularly enjoyed football and basketball. When he wasn’t collecting antiques he enjoyed watching movies. He was a regular contributor to Prairie Paws and he loved his cats.
James was married twice during his life. He was blessed with a daughter, Vicki Evans, Ottawa, KS, and a son, James Evans and his wife Jeri of Blue Springs, MO., who survive him today. He has two granddaughters, Jessica and Jamie Evans, Blue Springs, MO. James is also survived by a sister, Marty Bragg, Colorado, and a niece Susan Bragg, Colorado.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Prairie Paws and sent to Lamb-Roberts Funeral Homes, P.O. Box 14, Ottawa, KS, 66067. Online condolences may be left at www.lamb-roberts.com.
