Dennis Burchett

Funeral services for Dennis Lee Burchett, 76, Eudora, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary’s Eudora Chapel. Burial will follow in Eudora Cemetery.
He died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born June 2, 1934, in Humansville, Mo., the son of Willis and Lois Kennon Burchett. He had lived in the Eudora area since 1965, after moving there from Eureka.
He served two years in the Kansas National Guard.
Mr. Burchett worked as a heavy equipment operator and was a skilled welder. He worked on septic systems in the area and had previously worked at the Hercules Army Ammunition Plant near De Soto.
He enjoyed fishing, his dog, Maggie, and country music at Annie’s Country Jubilee in Tonganoxie each Saturday evening.
He married Joeanna Evans on Feb. 25, 1955, in Osawatomie. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, David Lee and Randall Scott, both of Eudora; two daughters, Debbie Burchett, Eudora, and Katherine Rose, Newton; a brother, Junior, Lamar, Mo.; a sister, Ardella Fugate, El Dorado Springs, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will greet friends from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the chapel in Eudora.
The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association or a charity of the donor’s choice, sent in care of the mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
