Charles H. Welsh

Memorial service for Charles H. Welsh, 80, Tonganoxie, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the VFW Post Hall, Tonganoxie. Private inurnment will be at the National Cemetery.
Mr. Welsh died Monday, Oct. 18, 2010, in Lawrence.
He was born April 24, 1930, in Lawrence, the son of Alanzo and Maude Hiloum Welsh.
Mr. Welsh served in the U.S. Army as a corporal in the Korean War. He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church and the Tonganoxie VFW Post No. 9271, both of Tonganoxie. Mr. Welsh owned and operated Welsh Plumbing.
He married Edris S. Story on Aug. 7, 1964, in Kansas City, Kan. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include three sons, Robert S. VanSchoelandt, Lansing, Brian L. VanSchoelandt, Tonganoxie, and Charles W. Welsh, Leavenworth; a daughter, Lori D. Hill, Winchester; a brother, Homer T. Welsh, Eudora; 25 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan, and a son, Tom Sr.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service.
