Laurie Magee

Mass of Christian Burial for Laurie Magee, 55, Lawrence, will be at 9 a.m. Friday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Private inurnment will be at a later date.
She died Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born May 11, 1955, in El Paso, Texas, the daughter of William Robert and Wilda Pirl Leonard.
She graduated from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in 1976. She was a licensed registered nurse. She had worked as a medical ICU nurse at St. Francis Hospital and she also worked at several clinics. Since the birth of her son, she was dedicated to being a mom and a homemaker.
She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and the University Women’s Club at Kansas University. She volunteered with Troop 53 of the Boy Scouts of America and also volunteered at the church and Bishop Seabury Academy. She was a member of the Kansas State Nurses Association and a Certified Master Gardener.
She married Dr. Lawrence “Larry” Magee on May 22, 1982, in Wichita. He survives, of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Gabe Magee, of the home; a brother, Fred Leonard and wife Becky, Columbia, S.C.; a sister, Lyn Wilson and family, Fairway; her mother-in-law, Violet Magee, Baldwin City; three brothers-in-law, Dan Magee and wife Connie, Topeka, Mark Magee and wife Cabrina, De Soto, and Shawn Magee and wife Shirley Dawn, Topeka; a sister-in-law, Sharon Minor and husband Jem, Baldwin City; four nephews; and 12 nieces.
A parish rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Thursday at the church. The family will meet friends following the rosary until 8 p.m.
