Harold E. Blitch
Harold E. “Gene” Blitch, 91, of Meadowlakes, Texas, died September 19, 2010. Born August 3, 1919 in DeLeon, Texas, Gene was the son of Joseph & Bertha (Irvin) Blitch.
Gene was a Major in the US Air Force and served as a pilot in World War II and flew “the hump.”
He was a 1950 graduate of Texas A&M, earning a BS and his Masters in Horticulture. Gene was an avid hunter and he enjoyed fishing. He was a Past Master of Acacia Masonic Lodge in Lawrence, Kansas. Gene had a 23-year career at Kansas University as Supervisor of grounds and has always considered Kansas and the University to be the highlight of his life. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Marble Falls.
Survivors include his wife, Bess Blitch of Meadowlakes; son Michael Blitch of Burnet, Texas; daughter Maribeth Impson of Dayton, Tennessee; sister Billye Cook of Marble Falls, Texas; seven grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Memorial service was Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 2:00 PM at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ralph Mann officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home of Marble Falls.
