Marjorie M. Mages 1925 - 2010 Eudora
A Mass of Christian burial for Marjorie M. “Margie” Mages, 85, Eudora, will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Eudora. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence.
Mrs. Mages died Monday, Nov. 22, 2010, at Brandon Woods at Alvamar in Lawrence.
She was born July 23, 1925, in Lane, the daughter of Frank and Ava Mae Landess McKoon. She graduated from Lane High School.
She moved to Lawrence in 1959 from Ottawa and then moved from Lawrence to Eudora in 1979.
She was a beauty operator at Driscoll’s and Vanity in Lawrence for 19 years before she retired in 1987.
She married Lawrence W. Mages on Nov. 16, 1943, in Homewood. He preceded her in death April 23, 2004.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia “Patty” Hoover, whose husband was the late Sonny Hoover, Overbrook, and Vicki Isaacs and husband J.T., Lawrence; two sons, Paul Mages and wife Ann, Topeka, and Larry Mages and wife, Janie, Ottawa; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one sister, Virginia Arnold, Independence, Mo.; and one brother, Roy McKoon, Portland, Ore.
A rosary will be said at 6 p.m. Friday at the church, after which the family will meet friends until 7:30 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to Prairie Paws Humane Society in Ottawa, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary—Eudora Chapel, 1003 John L. Williams Way, Eudora, KS 66025.
