Funeral services for Raymond Francis Kurtz, 78, Eudora will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary-Eudora Chapel. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lawrence, KS. He died November 21, 2010 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 27, 1932 in rural Douglas County in the Hesper Community the son of Carl Fred and Frances Elizabeth (Hadl) Kurtz.
Raymond graduated from the Eudora High School. He was in the Air Force and was stationed in Texas. When Raymond returned to Douglas County he worked for COOP for 33 years retiring in 1995. He also farmed in Eudora Community. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Eudora. He especially enjoyed his Children, Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren, Tractor Pulls, Derby’s, County Fairs and KU Basketball.
Raymond married Delores Worthington on March 10, 1952 in Lawrence, KS. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a daughter, Jeanie and husband, Keith Rodgers of Eudora; a son, Michael Kurtz of Eudora; four grandchildren, Amber and husband, Peter Moody; Darcie and husband, Waylon Ziesenis; Brandon Kurtz; Robert and Amanda Kurtz; seven great-grandchildren, Sydney Elmer-Ziesenis, Joshua Ziesenis, Jacob Ziesenis, Gavin Moody, Addison Moody, Grayson Moody, and Brody James Kurtz.
The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, November 26, 2010 at the Warren-McElwain Mortuary-Eudora Chapel.
The family suggests memorials in his name to Eudora Endowment Association or Eudora Food Pantry and may be sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary- Eudora Chapel.
