Raymond Joseph Gatti

Raymond Joseph Gatti, Topeka, died at his home on Tuesday, November 16, 2010.
He was born on June 14, 1923, in Bellaire, Ohio, the son of Joseph and Jennie (Musci) Gatti.
After graduation from Bellaire High School, he entered the military and served during World War II as a tail gunner in the 670th Bomb Squad. He flew 19 missions serving in Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe.
After the war he married Jennie, his wife of 53 years (deceased) and completed his degree from the Ohio State University. He began his career as a bank examiner and retired as Chief Examiner of the Federal Home Loan Bank Board in one of the 12 U.S. Districts based in Topeka for his 4-state district.
Ray enjoyed music and dancing and was an avid reader. He was a proud member of the American Legion and belonged to Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
Raymond is survived by his five children, Cynthia Henderlong (Art), Portland, OR; Rita Bolty (Alan), Tucson, AZ; Joseph R. Gatti, D.D.S. (Melody), Lawrence; Gina Brewer, Lenexa; and John M. Gatti, M.D. (Tara), Overland Park; 8 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He also leaves behind a sister, Erma Bilica, and Virginia (Peg) Martin, a cherished companion.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Raymond was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Sykes, and a brother, Jerry Conforti.
