Dorothy Marie Strasser 1917 - 2010 St. Paul
Mass of Christian burial for Dorothy Marie Strasser, 93, St. Paul, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul with Father Thomas Leland officiating. Burial will be at St. Francis Cemetery.
She died Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, at Prairie Mission Retirement Village, St. Paul.
Mrs. Strasser was born Nov. 15, 1917, in rural Walnut, the daughter of Phillip Lewis and Rose Ann Schulz Westhoff. She grew up in and attended school at Walnut.
She was a homemaker and worked for 16 years as a school cook in the St. Paul school district. She retired in 1979.
Mrs. Strasser was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church. She was also a member of the St. Francis Daughters of Isabella and the Altar Guild. She enjoyed quilting.
She married Eugene Francis Strasser on May 1, 1945, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Walnut. He preceded her in death on Aug. 13, 2002.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Paul Edward Strasser, on Sept. 11, 1992; a brother, Ernest Strasser; and three sisters, Regina Bradshaw, Cecilia McFarland and Margaret Bruchez.
Survivors include two sons, James Patrick Strasser, St. Paul, and Fredrick Lewis Strasser, Park City, Utah; a stepson, Francis Joseph Strasser, Parsons; three daughters, Eugenia “Jeannie” Marie Sanchez, Greely, Colo., Delores “Dee” Ann Baker, Topeka, and Virginia “Ginny” Mary O’Connell, Lawrence; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a brother, David Westhoff, rural Walnut.
The Daughters of Isabella Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Prairie Mission Chapel and a parish rosary will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Francis Catholic Church.
The family suggests memorials to St. Francis Catholic Church or to Hospice Compassus, sent in care of Carson-Wall Funeral Home, P.O. Box 942, Parsons, KS 67357.
