Q.V. Snowden 1922 - 2010
Memorial services for Q.V. Snowden, 88, De Soto, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at De Soto Baptist Church, 8655 Church St. Private graveside services will be in De Soto Cemetery.
Mr. Snowden died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010.
He was born June 9, 1922, in Gove City.
Snowden, known by friends and family as Snow or QV, was a barber for 64 years and ran Snow’s Barber Shop in De Soto. Through his many years of barbering, Snow was an enjoyment to the 5 generations of De Soto families that entered his shop. Snowden served honorably during World War II in the 273rd Field Artillery Battalion Third U.S. Army in the European Theater under the direction of General Patton. His service included the 5 major European battles performing reconnaissance.
Snow can be admired for many things but of particular note is his pride of a job well done, endless work ethic, and immense ability to enjoy life and especially the people of De Soto.
He is survived by Margaret Merrion — Life Partner, Doug Snowden — Son, Jesse Snowden and Ethan Snowden — grandsons, Alan Snowden — nephew, and Marijean Snowden — niece.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon A. Snowden.
