Betty Jo Coulter Haile

Funeral services for Betty Jo Coulter Haile, 91, Lawrence, will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg. Burial will follow at the Highland Park Cemetery, Pittsburg,
Mrs. Haile died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at Brandon Woods at Alvamar.
She was born on June 3, 1919, in Pittsburg, the daughter of O.E. and Blanche Hutchinson Coulter.
She graduated from Pittsburg High School and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Kansas State Teachers College, now Pittsburg State University. She began her teaching career in 1953 at Overland Park Elementary School in Overland Park. She lived in Prairie Village from 1953 to 1967, when the family moved to Houston. She continued her teaching career in Houston in the Spring Branch Independent School District. She retired in 1982.
She married William L. Haile in April 1943. They enjoyed 48 years of marriage until his death in 1991.
She was also preceded in death by her father, O.E. Coulter, her mother, Blanche Hutchinson Coulter; a brother, Robert J. Coulter; a sister, Ferol Coulter Haile; and her daughter, Joanna Haile Skridulis.
Survivors include a daughter, Judy K. Haile, Rhome, Texas; two grandchildren, Kevin P. Skridulis and Jenny S. Vellon; a great-grandson, Max Vellon; and a brother, Kenneth Coulter, Pittsburg.
The family will greet friends from noon until service time Thursday at Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. Fourth St., Pittsburg.
The family suggests memorials to the First Presbyterian Church in Lawrence, sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
