Selma Marie Southard 1953 - 2010 Lawrence
Memorial services for Selma Marie Southard, 57, Lawrence will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mustard Seed Christian Fellowship Church. Inurnment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence.
She died Friday, Nov. 12, 2010, at Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kan.
She was born March 8, 1953, the daughter of Theodore and Minnie Jane Coleman Brown.
She worked as the director for Douglas County Communications for 36 years. She was a member of First Regular Missionary Baptist Church.
She married Arvie Winston Southard Jr. on June 17, 1972, in Lawrence. He preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 2009.
Survivors include one son, Christopher, Lawrence; her mother, Minnie “Jane” Lewis, Lawrence; two sisters, Cheryl Brown, Lawrence, and Belinda Brown, Richmond, Va.; one brother, Marty Brown, El Cajon, Calif.; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to the Lupus Foundation — Kansas Chapter, sent in care of the mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
