Leo Feist

Mass of Christian burial for Leo Feist, 82, Lawrence, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the St. Lawrence Campus Center in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Lawrence.
Mr. Feist died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010, at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community in Lawrence.
He was born Feb. 22, 1928, in Strasburg, N.D., the son of Michael J. and Martha Dorscher Feist.
He had lived in Lawrence for 50 years. He was a machinist and electrician for E & E Specialties and retired in 1991 after many years of service. In 1960, he opened and managed the second pizza establishment to be located in Lawrence. Mr. Feist was a member of the St. Lawrence Campus Center in Lawrence.
He married Dorothy L. Lipp on Nov. 3, 1949, in Strasburg, N.D. She preceded him in death Nov. 13, 2007.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Kevin Rothwell.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Joan Feist, Pflugerville, Texas, and Janice D. Hurst and husband Jay, Lawrence; one son, Arthur and wife Debbie, Lawrence; six brothers, Peter C., St. Paul, Minn., Joe, Billings, Mont., Richard, Andover, Minn., John, Denver, Adam, Denver, and Conrad, Denver; two sisters, Theresa Reinbolt, Strasburg, N.D., and Katherine Nagel, Linton, N.D.; six grandchildren, Annette, Kevin, Jeremiah, Neil, Jennifer and Erin; and four great-grandchildren, Geoffrey, Angela, Paige and Brayden.
Mr. Feist will lie in state from noon to 9 p.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
The family suggests memorials in his name to the St. Lawrence Campus Center or Sunshine Group at Baptist Temple and may be sent in care of the mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
