Marilyn R. Greathouse

A memorial service for Marilyn R. Greathouse, 72, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lawrence. Cremation is planned.
Mrs. Greathouse died Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at the Rapid Recovery Unit at Pioneer Ridge, Lawrence.
She was born July 9, 1938, in Auburn, Neb., the daughter of Henry Frederick and Alvera Fredericka Nanka Stutheit Rogge. She graduated from Auburn High School.
Mrs. Greathouse received a bachelor’s degree in music education from Kansas University and a master’s degree from Emporia State University. She worked as a music teacher in schools at Garden City and Colby.
Mrs. Greathouse was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, American Association of University Women and was a KU Alumni Association life member. She also belonged to Court Appointed Special Advocates and was a former Douglas County Democratic Committee chairwoman.
She married Jim Greathouse on June 3, 1961, in Auburn. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, James Scott, Houston; a daughter, Paula Greathouse, Lawrence; a brother, DeRoy Lee Rogge, Lee’s Summit, Mo.; and two grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Lutheran Women’s Missionary League or to the Douglas County VNA Hospice, sent in care of Lawrence Chapel Oaks, 3821 W. Sixth St., Lawrence, KS 66049.
