Jeffery S. Valentine, 47 of Baldwin City, KS passed away at 7:07pm, Thursday, November 4, 2010 at his home after a battle with cancer.
Jeff was born February 26, 1963 in Winfield, KS to Bill and Margie (Olmstead) Valentine. He attended Douglass schools where he was valedictorian of his senior class. He went on to attend Wichita State University for two years, before attending the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center Air Traffic Training Academy.
On August 1, 1992, in St. Marys, KS he married Marilee (Baumchen). She survives of the home. They shared over eighteen wonderful years of marriage.
Since 1988, Jeff was employed by the FAA at the Kansas City Air Route Traffic Control Center in Olathe, KS. Jeff was a respected employee whose responsibilities included the training of many other controllers.
Jeff enjoyed camping, fishing, and water skiing with friends and family. Jeff’s favorite activity was watching his children play sports.
He coached his children when they were young in many different activities.
Additional survivors include his mother, Margie Valentine of Douglass, KS; father Bill Valentine of Douglass, KS; son Dayton Valentine and daughter Corey Valentine, both of the home; brother Tracy Valentine and his wife Lisa of North Bend, WA; sisters Shawna Green and husband Shelby and Sydney Hurd, all of Douglass, KS; maternal grandmother Virginia Olmstead of Douglass, KS; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
A Service of Remembrance will be at 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 8, 2010 at the Annunciation Catholic Church in Baldwin City, KS with Fr. Brandon Farrar officiating. Informal visitation will be from 4 p.m. until service time at the church on Monday. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Douglass Cemetery in Douglass, KS.
The family suggests expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorials to the Baldwin City High School Athletics Department and/or the American Cancer Society.
