Richard H. Oshel 1922 - 2010 Lawrence
Funeral services for Richard H. Oshel, 88, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
He died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born June 2, 1922, in De Soto, the son of Arthur Herman and Ethel Cleek Oshel.
Mr. Oshel served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was in the European Theater.
He had lived in Lawrence since 1959 after moving from De Soto. He was a custodian for USD 497 for more than 20 years. He also had worked as a carpenter and drove milk trucks.
He was a member of the Lawrence Baptist Temple and VFW Post No. 6654.
He married Grace A. Miskimen on Oct. 23, 1947, in Olathe. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Linda Miller, Shawnee, and Susan Reusch, Lawrence; a son, Ricky Oshel, Lawrence; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Lynn Oshel, in 1997.
The family will greet friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Sunday at the mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to the Shriners Burn Center for Children or to Disabled American Veterans, sent in care of the mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
