Richard "Dick" J. Bennett 1921 - 2010 Lawrence

Memorial services for Richard J. “Dick” Bennett, 88, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
Mr. Bennett died Friday, May 28, 2010, at Brandon Woods at Alvamar.
He was born Dec. 16, 1921, in Springfield, Ill., the son of John and Flora Bennett.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as a mechanical engineer contributing to automobile and aerospace industries. He had recently moved to Lawrence from South Bend, Ind., where he had lived for more than 30 years.
Mr. Bennett married Helen McCraw on Dec. 28, 1941, in Springfield, Ill. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include a daughter, Carol Seager, Lawrence; four grandchildren, Wendy Rea, David Seager, Kim Griffin and Kelly Peterson; and nine great-grandchildren, Heather, Gavin, Allison, Jared, Bennett, Connor, Sara, Mason and Griffin.
He was preceded in death by a son, Dick Bennett.
The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society or to the South Bend Pet Refuge, sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
