Hershel Robert Ferguson

Funeral services for Hershel Robert Ferguson, 79, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Ferguson died Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at his home.
He was born March 11, 1931, in Trimble, Mo., the son of Clifford R. and Zora Pearl Winn Ferguson. He graduated from high school in Trimble and later served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
Mr. Ferguson began working for the U.S. Postal Service in Yuma, Ariz., in 1958, and later transferred to Lawrence, retiring in 1987 as a supervisor. After his retirement, he began working at Sterling Heights Nursing Home as a maintenance supervisor, and retired from there in 1995. He volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, and enjoyed reading, traveling, fishing and sports.
He married Ann L. Dedman on Jan. 1, 1953, in Plattsburg, Mo. She died July 18, 2001.
Survivors include a daughter, Terri Lynn Ferguson, Lawrence; two grandsons, Adrian Peña and T.J. McDowell; and his sister, Erma Kay Edwards and husband Jim, Liberty, Mo.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. before services Saturday at the funeral home, where the family will meet them from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
