Mary Czupor 1920 - 2010 Lawrence
Funeral services for Mary Czupor, 90, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Central United Methodist Church, 1501 Mass. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until the service time at the church. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Czupor died Saturday, May 22, 2010, at Presbyterian Manor.
She was born Maria Penzes on April 6, 1920, in Hungary, the daughter of Joszef and Maria Penzes. The family fled Hungary in 1943 when Russia took over.
Mrs. Czupor and her husband lived in the Lone Star area in 1949, and later moved to Lawrence. She was a homemaker and a cook for USD 497 for 22 years. She was active in Family Community Education in Douglas County as well as the Green Thumb Garden Club.
She married Francis Czupor on Jan. 29, 1946, in Germany. He preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Eva Marie; her parents; and a brother, Joszef.
Survivors include a son, Zoltan James Czupor and wife, Marta Sipeki, Denver; a daughter, Kathy Czupor and husband Bob Campbell, Vienna, Va.; and relatives in Hungary.
The family suggests memorials to the Lone Star Church of the Brethren or Central United Methodist Church, sent in care of the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, 601 Ind., Lawrence, KS 66044.
