Marian Hall 1920 - 2010 Bettendorf
Bettendorf, Iowa — A private memorial for Marian “Pinky” Hall, 89, Bettendorf, Iowa, will be at a later date. Cremation has taken place.
Mrs. Hall died Thursday, May 13, 2010, at Iowa Masonic Health Facility, of Alzheimer’s Disease.
She was born Sept. 12, 1920, in Duluth, Minn., the daughter of Otto and Georgia Lovald Knaizl.
Mrs. Hall was raised in Gary, Ind., attending Lew Wallace School from kindergarten through high school. She graduated from MacMurray College, Jacksonville, Ill., in 1942 with a degree in business. She moved to Davenport, Iowa, in 1954, where she and her husband eventually owned and operated Boetje Foods.
Mrs. Hall was a Girl Scout leader, a volunteer at the former St. Luke’s Hospital (Genesis) Auxiliary and later worked at Josephson Jewelers. She was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, Monday Bridge Club, P.E.O. International, Chapter GW, the Rock Island Arsenal Golf Club, Davenport Country Club and the Outing Club. She was an avid traveler.
She married Richard A. “Dick” Hall Sr. on May 20, 1944, in Gary. He died in 1970.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Dr. Terrance Allender; an aunt, Susan Lovald; and an infant sister, Jeanne.
Survivors include two sons, Otto and wife Robin, Grinnell, Iowa, and Richard Jr. and wife Susan, Lawrence, Kan.; two daughters, Effie Hall, Grinnell, and Jean Hall Allender, Davenport; an honorary daughter, Kathleen Collins, Bettendorf; six grandchildren, Julie Hall Pedraza, Tim Hall, Brooke Allender Radech, Paige Allender, and Bobby and Katie Hall; and three great-grandchildren, Behren Radech, and Pablo and Spencer Pedraza.
The family suggests memorials to the Iowa Masonic Health Facility.
