James “Jim” Coleman Deel

Graveside services for James Coleman “Jim” Deel, 67, Cincinnati, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Oakwood Cemetery, Baldwin City, with the Rev. Kirby Hayes officiating.
Mr. Deel died Monday, May 10, 2010, at University Medical Center, Cincinnati.
He was born Feb. 28, 1943, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of William Glanville and Betty Jean Coleman Deel. He graduated from Baldwin High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from Baker University and a doctorate in mathematics from Kansas University.
Mr. Deel was a senior application engineer with MTS Systems Corp. and retired in 2005. He was a member of Hyde Park Community United Methodist Church, and enjoyed camping, hiking, nature study, history, music, theater and civic activities.
He married Ronda O’Hara on June 2, 1964, at KU’s Danforth Chapel. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include three brothers, Samuel A. Deel and wife Margy, Northfield, Minn., William “Bill” Deel and wife Kathy, Lawrence, and Roy Deel and wife Connie, Baldwin City; two nieces, Sarah and Mattie Deel; three nephews, David, Chapin and Nathan Deel; a great-niece, Katie Fox-Deel; and a great-nephew, Elliot Fox-Deel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a niece, Susan Deel Bryan; and a nephew, Jeff Deel.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
