Ann C. Whaley

Graveside services for Ann C. Whaley, 92, Eudora, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Eudora City Cemetery.
Mrs. Whaley died Monday, May 10, 2010, at Village Villa Nursing Home, Nortonville.
She was born Oct. 10, 1917, in Eudora, the daughter of Christopher and Anna Wilamena Reichtermeier Meuffels. She attended schools in Eudora.
Mrs. Whaley was a private caregiver for several area residents.
She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Eudora and Oldsters United for Responsible Service in Lawrence.
She enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She married Howard Eldon Whaley on Sept. 1, 1937, in Miami, Okla. He died May 23, 1987.
Survivors include a son, Kennith Whaley and wife Wanda, rural Baldwin City; a daughter, Sharon Porter and husband Terry, Nortonville; nine grandchildren, Roger, Don, Duane, Jeff, and Eric Whaley, Kevin McDaniel, Kathleen Moody, and Tyler and Tucker Porter; and 14 great-grandchildren, Ryanna Peterson, Andrew, Carol Ann, Mason, Lexie, Sarah, Brooks and Kennedy Whaley, Jessica and Emily Hoehn, Julia, Erin and Teresa Moody, and Karlee Ann Porter.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Arlene McDaniel; three brothers, Herb, Jack and Louis Meuffels; and two sisters, Edith Brecheisen and Alice Buckner.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive them from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to Village Villa Nursing Home, F.W. Huston Memorial Hospital, St. Paul United Church of Christ, or the Babcock Place Activity Fund, sent in care of the funeral home, 601 Ind., Lawrence, KS 66044.
