John "Jack" S. Hibbert 1918 - 2010 Lawrence
A private family memorial is planned for John S. “Jack” Hibbert, 91, Lawrence.
He died Saturday, May 8, 2010, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 17, 1918, in Liverpool, England, the son of John S. Hibbert and Birdie May Toy Hibbert. He and his family moved from England to Minnesota, where he grew up. He lived in Topeka for more than 30 years.
While in Topeka, Mr. Hibbert owned and operated Jack’s Paint and Wallpaper Store. He graduated from the private Gulf Coast Military Academy in Louisiana. He and his wife enjoyed retirement in Green Valley, Ariz. They moved to Springfield, Mo., and to Lawrence in March 2008.
He married Janet Harper on Jan. 1, 1944, in Elmwood, Ill. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Mary Patch and husband Larry, Overland Park, and Teresa Lind-White and husband John, Lawrence; a stepdaughter, Sandra Hemstreet and husband Bill, Enid, Okla.; eight grandchildren, Brandon and Steven Lind, Sarah Patch Kleinmann, Michael Patch and Scott, Matt, Mitzi and Brett Hemstreet; and seven great-grandchildren.
