Doris M. Cook

Memorial services for Doris M. Cook, 93, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Tom Brady officiating.
Mrs. Cook died Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community.
She was born Feb. 11, 1917, in Broken Bow, Neb., the daughter of Lynn and Nina Sherrill Sherman Burns.
Mrs. Cook was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lawrence and Hays, O.E.S., P.E.O., and the Hays Chamber of Commerce.
She and her husband owned and operated Jack and Jill Shop, in Hays, selling children’s clothing and toys for 38 years, retiring in 1988. After the death of her husband, she moved to Lawrence to be near her family.
She married Clarence E. Cook on July 2, 1939, in Hays. He preceded her in death June 17, 1991.
Survivors include two sons, David Lee Cook, Loveland, Colo., and Douglas Alan Cook, Tulsa, Okla.; two daughters, Pamela Kay Huddlestun, Lawrence, and Patricia Ann Munsch, Prairie Village; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to Heart of America Hospice, sent in care of the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
