Ann M. Marshall-Levine

Ann M. Marshall-Levine, 78, of Lawrence, KS, passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2010, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born on April 20, 1931, in New Haven, CT, the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Marshall, and moved with her family to Halifax, Nova Scotia, at the age of 10. She obtained an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Dalhousie University in Halifax. Ann attended the University of Chicago where she obtained a Master’s Degree in Psychology, followed by a Doctorate in Psychology from the University of Kansas in Lawrence.
She was a member of Temple Beth Sholom in Topeka and the Lawrence Jewish Community Center in Lawrence. She was an amateur watercolor artist and a weaver. For eight years, she was the first female superintendent of Kansas Neurological Institute (KNI).
Ann was a loving wife, mother and very good friend. She married Bruce Levine on September 1, 1985 in Topeka at Temple Beth Sholom. He survives. Other survivors include one brother, Alan Marshall of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; four daughters, Miriam (Alex) Baer of North Carolina, Ruth (Terry) Baer of Kentucky, Debbie (Paul) Sevart of Wisconsin, and Wynne (Steve) Levine of Maine; and two grandsons, Jacob and Ben.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. today at Temple Beth Sholom, 4200 SW Munson Ave., Topeka, KS 66604. Ann will not lie in state. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to KNI, 3107 SW 21st St., Topeka, KS 66604 or to the organization of the donor’s choice.
