Elsie Roberta Atwood

A funeral service for Elsie Roberta Atwood, 84, Auburn, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene in Topeka. Burial will be in Auburn Cemetery, Auburn.
Mrs. Atwood died Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at Homestead of Auburn.
She was born April 12, 1925, in Topeka, the daughter of David Cecil “Jack” and Mildred Provost Gifford.
Mrs. Atwood attended Twinville rural grade school and Auburn High School. She was a member of Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene, where she was active as a pianist and Sunday school teacher and in missions work. She served on the Shawnee County Election Commission, and the Shawnee County Farm Bureau as Women’s Chairman.
She married Loyal Joseph Atwood on July 22, 1945, at the home of her parents, west of Auburn. They shared 61 years of marriage. He died Sept. 27, 2006.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Childers, in 1988; a brother; and a sister.
Survivors include two sons, Lawrence Atwood and wife Sherry, and John Atwood and wife Leatrice, all of Auburn; two daughters, Elsie Dossett and husband Johnnie, McPherson, and Betty Colbert and husband Richard, Lawrence; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a niece; and four nephews.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the church.
