Cyrus F. Young

Military inurnment services for Cyrus F. Young, 78, Lawrence, will be 2 p.m. Friday at Fort Riley’s Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Manhattan.
Mr. Young died Monday, March 15, 2010, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 11, 1931, in Omaha, Neb., the son of Floyd Young and Goldie Shupe Young.
Mr. Young had been a Lawrence resident since 1972. He worked in heavy construction for List & Clark, Dunbar and King’s Construction Company, where he retired in 1996.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served his country as an E-6 staff sergeant in the Korean War.
Mr. Young was a Methodist. He was a member of Mount Oread Aerie 309, Fraternal Order of Eagles, in Lawrence, and the Moose Lodge of Topeka.
He married Margie Collins in 1954. He later married Patricia Hanrahan on Aug. 10, 2009, in Las Vegas. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include four daughters, Linda Lee, Americus, Carol Amyx and Pam Young, both of Lawrence, and Jill Giroux, Peoria, Ariz.; one son, Cyrus F. Jr., Omaha, Neb.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, John Young, Manhattan.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Lawrence Senior Center, sent in care of the mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
