Renate E. Hensiek-Baars 1944 - 2010 Lawrence
Graveside services for Renate E. Hensiek Baars, 65, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Baars died Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at her home.
She was born Nov. 1, 1944, in Mittenwalde, West Germany, the daughter of Hans and Waltraud Piontek Matschke.
Mrs. Baars was employed as a graphic artist for the Kansas Geological Survey from 1967 to 1986.
She married Gene Hensiek on Feb. 7, 1964, in Berlin, West Germany. He died Jan. 1, 1984.
She later married Don L. Baars on Jan. 21, 1996, in Las Vegas. He died July 7, 2008.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Peiter Matschke.
Survivors include a son, Michael Hensiek, McLouth; a daughter, Dianna Mock, Baldwin City; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a brother, Gerhard Matschke, Berlin, Germany.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to the ALS Association, sent in care of the mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
