Eric Flescher 1951 - 2010 Olathe

Funeral services for Eric Flescher, 58, Olathe, formerly of Lawrence, were Thursday at Louis Memorial Chapel, Kansas City, Mo. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Flescher died Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at Kansas City Hospice House.
He was born April 9, 1951, in Providence, R.I., the son of Samuel and Hella Flescher.
Mr. Flescher earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Rhode Island, a master’s degree from the University of Michigan and a doctorate from Kansas University.
He was a teacher and worked as a consultant for Project IMAGE and SPICA at Harvard University, NASA, Smithsonian, Annenburg PBS Foundation and Newton’s Apple. He was co-director of Computer Magic and Worlds to Explore.
He was a member of Astronomical Society of Kansas and was the 1990 National Space Club’s space educator of the year.
He married Sue-Ellen Flescher in 1994 in Kansas City, Kan. She survives.
Other survivors include his mother, of Providence; a son, Brian, Miami Beach, Fla.; a daughter, Shira Flescher, New York City; a brother, Joel, Pawtucket, R.I.; and a sister, Ruth Tepper, Newton, Mass.
The family suggests memorials to Kansas City Astronomical Society, sent in care of the chapel, 6830 Troost Ave., Kansas City, MO 64131-1559.
