Franklin D. Galloway 1933 - 2010 Lawrence
Funeral services for the Rev. Franklin D. Galloway, 76, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Mustard Seed Church, Lawrence. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Lawrence.
The Rev. Galloway died Sunday, June 27, 2010, at his home in Lawrence.
He was born July 23, 1933, in Murphy, Miss., the son of Molester and Leanna Turnipseed Galloway.
The Rev. Galloway was pastor of The Church of God for more than 40 years. He received an award on Jan. 18, 2003, from the Ecumenical Fellowship Inc. for 34 years of continual pastoral leadership in the Lawrence community.
He retired from Farmland Chemicals in 1992 after 17 years.
He married Josephine Clark on Nov. 2, 1952, in Hollandale, Miss. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include four daughters, Murtis Kinney and husband Don, Topeka, Frankie McAfee and husband Sheldon, Olathe, Joyce Reese and husband Marvin, Lawrence, and Kathy Mitchell and husband Kenneth, Belleview, Fla.; four sons, Andrew and wife Earlean, Memphis, Tenn., Luke and wife Rose, Wichita, Wesley, Lawrence, and Gregory and wife Maria, O’Fallon, Ill.; 23 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Charles and wife Sandra, Coffeyville, Huey “Bo,” John and wife Carolyn, Lawrence, and Mickey and wife Carol, Arlington, Texas; one sister, Vivian Galloway Tubbs, Lawrence; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by one grandchild, James Douglas Kinney; one sister, Nancy Galloway Edwards; and two brothers, Major Galloway and S.T. Galloway.
The family will greet friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary, Lawrence.
