Naomi Ruth Chiles

A funeral service for Naomi Ruth Chiles, 78, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Rochester Cemetery, Topeka.
Mrs. Chiles died Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born May 15, 1932, the daughter of Arthur A. and Mary Palmer Wilson.
Mrs. Chiles grew up in Harper, moved to Lawrence in July 1947 and graduated from Liberty Memorial High School. She attended nursing school, receiving her licensed practical nurse certification, and worked for Dr. Margaret Clark for five years.
She was a member of the Heartland Nazarene Church in Tonganoxie. She enjoyed cross stitching and supported Special Olympics.
She married Duane D. “Smokey” Chiles on Jan. 18, 1959, in Lawrence. He died June 17, 1995.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Larry Chiles, in 1976; her parents; and a brother, David Wilson.
Survivors include a daughter, Rhonda N. Blankingship and husband Troy, Oskaloosa; and two grandchildren, Taylor and Ryan.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where the family will receive them from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
