Gladys Lucille Lantis 1923 - 2010 Pomona
Funeral services for Gladys Lucille Lantis, 86, Pomona, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Pomona.
Mrs. Lantis died Friday, June 25, 2010, at Ottawa Retirement Village.
She was born Oct. 31, 1923, in Franklin County, the daughter of Harbour and Eula McCurdy McDaniel. She attended Ottawa schools.
Mrs. Lantis was a lifelong Franklin County resident. She worked at the Main Street Bakery in Ottawa from September 1986 until retiring in 1993.
She worked as a cashier at Alco in Ottawa from 1981 until 1986, at Farmers’ Union Store in Pomona, and sold Avon products for 20 years.
She was a member of Pomona United Methodist Church and Pomona Chapter No. 305, Order of Eastern Star.
She married Charles H. Lantis on Jan. 17, 1941, in Ottawa. He died April 5, 1983.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Bonnie Vickhoven and Eileen Bain, and a brother, Rex McDaniel.
Survivors include two sons, Stanley D. Lantis, Pomona, and Gale D. Lantis and wife Willa, Baldwin City; a sister, Phyllis Randel, Auburn; three granddaughters, Michelle Harms, Nicole Carey and Lori Markley; two grandsons, Jeff and Brian Lantis; and eight great-grandchildren.
Friends may call after 9 a.m. Monday to the time of service at the mortuary, where the family will meet with friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.
The family suggests memorials to Pomona United Methodist Church or Midland Hospice, sent in care of the mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, KS 66067.
