Verdia Gaulding

A memorial service for Verdia Gaulding, 91, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community. Burial was on June 22 at Oak Lawn Cemetery in West Plains, Mo.
She died Friday, June 18, 2010, at Pioneer Ridge, where she had lived since 2005.
She was born Feb. 3, 1919, in Dora, Mo., the daughter of James W. and Nellie Croney. She worked many years in food service at Christa Hogan Hospital until it closed and then at West Plains Memorial Hospital for 25 years until she retired in 1983. She was a member of United Free Will Baptist Church in West Plains.
She married Howard Farrar. They divorced in 1942. She married Waymond Summers in 1944. He died in 1963. She married Thurman Collins, and they shared 16 years of marriage before he died in 1986. She later married Max Gaulding. They enjoyed volunteering at West Plains Senior Center, playing cards and especially the senior dances until Max died in 1992.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Wiggins and husband Nyle, Lawrence; a brother, Leonard Croney and wife Elsie, West Plains, Mo.; a sister, Alta Roberson, West Plains, Mo.; a grandson, Steven Wiggins; a granddaughter, Tracy Turner; two great-grandsons, Dylan and Jacob Turner; three great-granddaughters, Kaylee, Kylee and Kellee Wiggins; and many nieces and nephews.
