Edward Mac Hay

Funeral services for Edward Mac Hay, 85, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg with the Rev. Thomas Stroot officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Mr. Hay died Friday, June 18, 2010, at the Rosewood Health Center in Independence, Mo.
He was born Sept. 8, 1924, in Pittsburg, the son of Edward Mathias and Margaret McGarvie Hay.
He graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School and Kansas State Teachers College at Pittsburg State University.
He was in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Hay worked as a manager for Sears and Roebuck Catalog Division for 30 years. He was named manager of the year in 1978. Upon his retirement he became a salesman for Bottenfield’s for several years. He also worked for the Alvamar Executive Golf Course as the assistant manager.
He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lawrence. Additional memberships include the American Legion and The Elks Lodge, both in Lawrence.
He loved golf and had four holes-in-one over the years. He loved and cherished his family, including his beloved sheltie, Casey.
He married Patricia Aline Culver on May 30, 1944, in Pittsburg. She survives, of Lawrence.
Other survivors include two daughters, Kris L. Frike, Kansas City, Mo., and Kim A. Murry and husband Tom, El Dorado; five grandchildren, Rodney, Randy and Robert Frike and Ryan and Megan Murry; and a great-grandchild, Dalton Frike.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Virginia Tangye.
The family will receive friends starting at 1 p.m. Wednesday, and a parish rosary will be recited at 1:30 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to the St. Mary’s Schools and/or the SEK Humane Society, sent in care of the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S. Broadway, Pittsburg, KS 66762.
