Edward Kenneth Bishop

Private inurnment services for Edward Kenneth “Jimmie” Bishop, 89, Lawrence, will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Bishop died Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born June 10, 1920, in Topeka, the son of Harry Adne and Inez Ivy Grainger Bishop. He moved to Lawrence in 1922.
He was a 1938 graduate of Liberty Memorial High School and attended Kansas University.
Mr. Bishop was a printer/binder foreman by trade, 36 years at KU printing service, five years at Miller Printshop and four years at Allen Press. He also was a Boy Scout leader, a Vigil member of Order of the Arrow and a Girl Scout and 4-H leader for about 40 years.
Mr. Bishop was a member of the Ozark Wilderness Waterways Club, Northeast Kansas Beekeepers Club, Douglas County Rural Life and Jayhawk Audubon Society. He also helped with the Kansas Recreation Workshop.
He married Marguerite Harris on Aug. 2, 1941, in Kansas City, Kan. She preceded him in death. A sister, Ivy Marie Bishop Hrabak, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include two sons, James D., Grand Rapids, Mich., and Ronald E., Lawrence; a daughter, Jananne Bishop Hall and husband Jerry, Veneta, Ore.; two grandchildren, Nalen and Jaeci; and two great-granddaughters, Tahhili and Tesna.
The family suggests memorials to Hidden Valley Girl Scout Camp, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, 601 Ind., Lawrence, KS 66044.
